What can’t be replaced? I got the Corvette America parts book, and it seems that almost everything is in there. I read about folks getting new body parts, new frames, so what parts can’t be replaced? What makes a car a car…
I have struggled with getting rusted bolts off the underside of the car, and was wondering how many (non-interior) bolts there were :p 10 bolts down, 432 to go! Type stuff.
And of course, as I look at all the nice shiny parts in the nice pictures around here, and look at the catalog, I was wondering how much getting all the new parts costs

Almost everything can be replaced. The aftermarket for these cars is huge.
Cost? Lots. I lost count but I could pick up a very nice C5 for what I have into mine. Worth every penny though. I was at an event this weekend where I was the only C3 A few C4s and C5s and a C6 and many Porsches. I will say I got a lot of attention over the other cars there. Plus I ran pretty well against them.
I was wondering what would stop someone from starting with nothing and ordering a whole car, one part at a time.... Other then the cost, of course
The thought has occurred.... it's almost inevitable when you start looking at those catalogs, wondering what it would cost to build a vette from scratch... well, FWIW, they just started reproducing early Camaro bodies, and Hot Rod magazine built a Camaro from scratch - entirely repro parts, used one of those limited edition "ZL1" crate 454 motors. Painted it GREEN!
