Pleeeease, when you respond in a post, don't use the "quote" to reply. Have some mercy on us dialup users. Gary's pictures on his trailing arms take a long time to download but when you use the quote button we dial-up users have to download the same pictures two or three times in the same post and it takes long preiods of time.

I can understand where you are coming from Carhound. Years ago, there were some pretty big signatures going on, finally everyone agreed to cut it back. I am like you, no need to quote the whole string of pics. If I quote someones pic, I usually try to pic out one.

Yeah...years ago when there was NO high speed.
I do the same as Eddie70, ESPECIALLY when responding to the text. I delete the pic in the quote.

sigs? what sigs? There is a setting - you might try turning em off. Should speed things up for you.

There are still quite a few areas where dialup is the only means of access. (Aside from sat. which is stupid for the price/reliability) Big companies don't give a flying frack about rural areas. Verizon inherited New Wilmington from GTE and when a storm came through in late summer the entire area lost phone service. (A couple towns) IT TOOK AN ACT OF GOVERNMENT TO MAKE THEM FIX IT. Simply outrageous.

Removing the pics from quoted text does make it easier to read but, as others said, your browser only downloads the image once. It re-uses it wherever that image is called for.

You guys may be right about the download part but it seems to me that it would take longer, the more pics you have. Another reason I put this post , is that I was going to print Gary's info. and when there is repeat pictures it takes a whole lot of paper to print it. Just trying to help

You can turn off sigs in your personal preferences and turn off pics in your browser.

Maybe we could also institute a smiley quota, no more than two per post. Saving those 50 or 60 bytes per post would certianly be a time saver for dialup users.

Tony, you may be right. By the way, is your floppy in your other hand?

You ARE right, I don't know how to do that. May be too old to learn too. May just have to draw the pics. Just kidding David

Quotes with pics bug us broadband folks too but it's gonna happen unless the programmers come up with a way to strip them out on a quote. I hope you're not one of those unforunate folks whos paying as much for dialup as we do for broadband, I've talked to quite a few that do, you would be surprised.

If I use the quote to reply and there are pics, I high-light the text and pics I don't want and delete them from the quote.
