Default Which headers to buy?

This winter's project will be replacing stock manifolds with headers. I already have 2.5 inch full duals with stock type mufflers. I will change mufflers to Flowmaster 40s or similar. The headers should be ceramic coated. Which ones should I use? Are there size options (1 5/8, 1 3/4)? I don't have A/C or air injection.

Dynomax has ceramic coated headers cheap (Summit or Jegs), they are 1 5/8 in. A bit more money will get you Hooker Super-Comps, 1 3/4 in.(more potential power). Check first to make sure they will work with your heads.

go with the super comps do it right the first time. i wish i would have now i built my motor for high end hp and have crappy compettion headers. They are for more low end torque when super comps having bigger primarys will give you more top end.

Super comps that are jet hot coated and Flowmaster 50's should work nicely...

I have the Hooker Super comps jet coated with 40 Series Flowmaster and true dual's with no cat's and am very happy with them. Been on over two years now and still look new.

If you don't need smog tubes, get the Thorley headers, part number 350 or 350c if you want 'em coated.

Thanks for the responses guys.
According to my Jeg's catalog, Dynomax ceramic 1 5/8 headers are $266 and Hooker SC 1 3/4 ceramics are $570. (They don't show Thorleys).
Is there really $300 worth of difference?

I'll sell you my brand new Dynomax Ceramic coated headers for $200 plus shipping. They've never been used, but they do have some scratches from installing them on the car. The scratches do not go to the metal, but they are noticable. Some say you can buff the scratches out. They still look really nice. I'm building a bigger motor for the Vette, so these won't work for me and right now I need money for my 1970 Monte Carlo. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks...Mike

Both the Hooker Super Comp & Dynomax Cerma coat are very good. Will be faster w/ the Dynomax which flow much better than is commonly known. Have been rec. them & many have them now.

I bought my first set of Hookers for my first car about 25 years ago and loved them. Due to money constraints, I bought a different brand for my next car and was in regret for several years. You know what the vette got.

I'm putting Hedman ceramic coated street hedders into 2.25 duals (stock L-48) and Dynomax super turbos the week after Thanksgiving. I got the hedmans at Summit for 329. Don't know how it will all work out yet, but the look great outside the box.

Good luck,

Mike - Thanks for the offer, but I'm still undecided about this. It looks like you might have another customer.
