I looked at a 72 orange coupe yesterday. 454, 4 spd, 69 side pipes, leather delux int. Sitting in front of a scrap yard in 3' weeds for the past 5 years. Someone broke the rear window and it's been sitting in the rain, snow, sun. The guy who ownes the yard is holding it for a woman who inherited it but doesn't want to do anything with it.

Grew up near Dothan. I can only remember seeing a few vettes and one of them was my typing teachers. She had an 82 and an 84. Both were new at the time.
Too bad about the vette setting out like that. That is the second one I remember you posting pics of being lost like that. It must be the radar working for you.

Pics like that kill me, especially when the car looks to be in pretty good shape . Made me think of this '69 I saw in the backyard of a house I appraised in Los Angeles a few months back. The son was "storing" it for a friend.

I do seem to run across these old cars often. I am always on the look when driving.
This one is in much worse condition than can be seen in the picture. It would probally be a good parts car.

There is or was a website called "Cars in Barns" that was dedicated to posting pictures of late sixties/early seventies muscle cars sitting in yards, fields, etc. rotting back into the earth. Some of the cars were very rare and sought after vehicles. Too bad people treat these cars that way.

I had a 'Prof" at Ga. Southern College in 1973 that had a 68 or 69 with a THREE SPEED manual. Wish I had that relic !

i bet someone was inside the boarded up house with a shotgun in their hand just waiting for you to try and borrow parts from it!
never judge a book by its cover, you might end up with a bullet in ur ****
im just kidding, just a little humor
- can u see inside at all?

I would be willing to bet that many many offers have been made on that car to the owner regarding possible sale, but the owner declined those offers believing that he would get around to restoring it one day, or was very obstinate in his refusal "I'll let it rot, before I sell it for that." So, now maybe he's getting exactly what he wants/deserved....nothing. Sad to see one sit, but statistically, it is insignificant w/the thousands of nice 73s that are out there. And unless it's a very rare car, you can just go pretty much buy what you want, already done, unless of course, you have a death wish for paying exhorbitant parts prices, spending countless hours of time tinkering, and having an undriveable car take up space in your garage.

Reminds of a call I got a few years from some local cops. I was told by a friend that there was an orange shark sitting on flat tires, being used as storage or something in a local trailer park. So I went to check it out. Was a '69 bwith sidepipes! No owners at home so I left them nice letter about my intentions, that it should be restored and all. Even offered to do a sofa sized painting of it as payment for them. They called to say that it belonged to there son who had died at age 19 in the Vietnam war and they were never going to sell it cause it was a link to him.
Anyway a week or two goes by and the local cop calls and askes me about the Vette, where I was on such and such date, etc. Turns out shortly after I looked at it someone vandalised the car! I was a suspect! After about a half hour on the phone with the cop he finally dropped it and never contacted me again. The car has subsequently been moved to an undisclosed location. Oh well...
