does anyone know what is going on with them this year. I heard the cut off years was going to be moved to 76 this up coming year but i have heard nothing forsure as of yet
And even if the state doesn't smog, changing anything is against federal law. Doesn't matter how much it clean it burns, it still has to pass a visual.
i am so glad to be a dumb *** okie... we don't deal with that stuff...
I hate I can't put headers and true duals on my '82 but I believe in the smog laws, they really do help clean up the air. If you ever go to a large car show and breath in the exhaust from the classics it's great for the memories but after a couple hours of it you start to realize just how bad and harmful it is.
Yeah, kinda sucks about not being able to mod your car.
I did read in several places, though, that if you remove a catalytic converter from your car (unless it's to replace it) you can be fined heavily. And if you take a car to a shop that does exhaust work and they don't report you as not having the catalytic converter when you should, they can be fined as well.

it is true that shops can get introuble for working on a car with out proper smog stuff but you can always find people that are willing to do it. And if you are found with out a catalytic converter you get a fix it ticket and you have to take your car back to the station with in a time frame and prove that the cat has been put back in.
The way i run it is I had a peace of pipe may by one of my freinds at this exhaust shop that takes the place of the cat. then when i have to get smoged i just pull out the pipe and but the cat back in
now if i can just find a way to move headers in and out that quick i will be in bussiniss.
My '77 with no smog equipment passes the sniffer tests with flying colors. MO only does a visual if you fail the sniffer...and usually not then, they just tell you to get it fixed.
