This is the '78 I rescued last year out of a salvage yard. The previous owner (also the owner of the salvage yard) allowed his teenage daughter to drive it to school. Needless to say she rear ended a gravel truck. The damage wasall to the fiberglass, and a bent aircleaner retainer rod. The rest was from time in the Texas sun un protected for 3 years.
I had been seen this car in February 2004. The owner wanted $3,000 when I had originally asked if it was for sale. I would check to see if it was still in the yard from time to time. I stoped by last January and offered him $1300 for it. He said he was going to miss it.
Now it takes up both sides of my carport while I do a frame off.
I just want a Corvette that I can enjoy on the weekends. I use this project too unwind at the end of the day, and on weekends. The engine has been rebuilt (according to the milage on the reciept that I got with the car it has 1873 miles since rebuild/swap. It is Not the original this one came out of a 79 L82 which was another car he had. I missed out on that (not enough cash for both at the time it had a bent frame).
This car is to me an investment, and a hobby. It is also great stress relief. I will try to post more photos as the project progresses.

I had the front clip removed so I couldn't go to far. The neighbors are cool with my test runs. (one across the street owns a '2000 C-5,and does apuhalstry repairs for the local Corvette shops, another owns a '74bb, and my neighbor right next door works as a parts counter person at Henna Chevrolet)

early morning, we were both driveing with the sun, so the SUVs brake lights were completly illuminated. we both go through the intersection, they slam on the brakes to pull into the gas station, and of course, they didnt use the turn signal either. needless to say that when your doing 45mph and only following about 1 1/2 cars behind, thats not a good thing.
i ended up locking up the rear end and leaving some nice skid marks on the road. droped it to 2nd, quickly pulled into the 2nd lane on the right and punched it so i didnt get rear ended.
goooood brakes....
if i nailed them, that would have been one terrible graduation day.
now instead of me worrying about hitting some one, im dodgeing idiots trying to hit me.
As for the cats I enjoy sitting on my back porch with a beer, and waiting until I see one in the yard then I let my Blue Tick, and Black & Tan coon hounds out. I didn't know a dog could jump that high to get a cat out of a tree.
Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.

I was also lucky on the rodent front ...I can tell this sat out somewhere, but all I found was some strategically placed wasp nests -- which appeared to have long been unused.
Keep up the pics with your progress.
Brian.
