Does anyone know of , or have installed in their Corvette, a drop in replacement for the 68 radio WITHOUT ALTERING the gauge cluster in any way, other than the cheap crap Custom AutoSound units that many of the aftermarket vendors sell?
Looking for something that will fit into the square, stock opening without any cutting, grinding or modification of any kind so I can revert to stock radio if I want to.
Thank you,
Kurt
Why not just stay with the stock radio? If you don't mind paying for it, check out what this guy can do to them if you want to rattle windows a block away:
Kurt,
I am putting my original radio back in, however I am going to build a box with speakers and a din receiver/cd player installed in the box as well. I am going to install connectors in the power and gnd wires so I can disconnect the entire unit remove it from the car and tuck the pwr and gnd wires under the rear carpet when I want it to look stock.
I installed a Pioneer AM/FM CD Player w/45 watts per ch in the glove box of my 66 coupe. Ecklers sell these flat box speakers for a $100. that I had my douts about. I put them behind my seats and hide the wire. Man the sound is great.
I cut the dash in my 79 & installed the same setup looks great & sounds great.
