jacking corvette, possibly stupid question
i have a 3 1/2 ton floor jack and with my last car could just grab the rear under the differential and 3 pumps back end of car was off the ground.
can this be done with the corvette or will it damage the rear assembly in some way?
thanks in advance

Jack a corvette
Restored the frame on my 75 this spring. Lifted the rear by the differential and set the jack stands with no problems. I would not lift the rear by the half shafts. Good luck.

However.......... a few years back i saw a bulletin from GM about a product called "Jackpoint". it attached to the center of the differential and had a small "platform" that stuck down whereby you could place a jack under it to lift the vehicle. GM claimed this was unwise and could result in damage to the differential housing. just a thought.

I don't lift my car by the diff, but even if you do, it might be a moot point. You aren't planning on replacing the shocks with the jack holding the car only by the diff, are you? I'd suggest jack stands...

Can't use ramps if you're doing brake work, since it involves taking the tire off; can't take the shocks off if you've got pressure on the shocks.
I use ramps to change oil and radiator fluid, but I can only do that on my driveway or the street because the ramps want to slide on the smooth surface of my garage floor.

so i can set the stands and take the tires off.
besides doing shocks i walso want to adjust parking brake.
guy i bought it from did all new cables and supposedly
new brakes (i'll find out when i get it apart) and i dont believe
they were adjusted properly.
being a 4 speed i would like it to work at least a little anyway.

@ kilroy: I made this bad experience with my`73. I was wondering about thte little buckle in the traverse frame. I will never try it again. But I don`t know how is it in a service garage ...

couldnt get the diff due to items mentioned above
spare tire carrier and exhaust right in the way.
ended up jacking each side and setting stands.
the shocks were shocking to say the least,
not sure but i think they were factory originals.
