Took the Vette off to be painted today. We have a new DIY Auto Center in the area called Painters Lane. It was 11 degrees out in my garage but it was 72 in their's when I got started. Here's a few pictures of today's progress. Not bad for 8 hours. Paint is spiderwebbed all the way thru the gelcat so it all has to come off.

Here's the goal...

I'm excited for you! My dad had a 71 Charger with that same red/black paint scheme. It looks great, especially with black int. Good luck!

Sounds like a neat place to work on your ride. Should make it a whole lot more fun to work on rather than in your garage.

How does the DIY facility work? Do you pay by the day or a set fee for the job with a time limit? I have never heard of that before, but it seems like a good deal for us cold weather folks.

You can do either. Anyone in the Cincinnati-Dayton Ohio area should try them out; Painters Lane...tell them I sent you I got in on a package deal. All the time I need to do the car in a heated bay with tool room use and 2 hours f heated paintbooth time for $500. Doesn't matter if it takes 2 weeks or a year. I never pay for bay time for this project, the painting.

They have hourly rates for the bays. $15/hr incl tool room. $7.5/hr w/o tool room. Machine shop has a fee by piece of equipment, like sandblaster, mig welder, etc. 2 post lift and Kwik lift are available too.
