Default eggcrates on a 73?

Maybe a bad idea, but I love the eggcrates on the 70-72's. I have a 73. Are the scoops the same, and has anyone put them on a 73+. I know some would balk, but hey its my car. I think they should have kept them on, but thats me.

I dont think the egg crate grills will fit on the 73 unless there was some cutting of the fenders involved.

Well I dont want to cut it up, but if a couple screw holes needed drilled, that would be ok.

Savage 118....I have an easy solution.

You want egg crate grills on your 73.

Gator79 wants 73 grills on his 71.

Trade fenders.

Easy.

Finders fee for completing this match or transaction can be mailed to me.

I have a 72 with 73 gills glued in. They didn't cut the glass when they did this. Even know they can be easily removed i haven't been able to sell the car. People are completly turned off by them. Point is be careful what you do, it can seriously affect resale! By the way, this car is still for sale

I bought front fenders from the center of the wheel opening back for a 70-72. I am going to install on my 73, but am doing glass repair on the front nose first. cost $100.00 for the pair, n.o.s.

There is quite a difference between the 1970 designed side louvers and the 1971 style louvers.

The 1971 style louvers actually have a design that matches the front grille design. If you look closely at the partitioned grille work you will see a subtle step ledge running both horizontally and vertically on both the front grilles and the side louvers. The raised edge surface that is chrome plated runs both vertically and horizontally, just as the front grilles do.

The re-designed louver style that now matches the front grilles for the '70 thru '72 years is not as heavy a casting as the 1970 version. The vertical facing does not protrude as far back into the cavity of each segmented square in the 1971 style, which matches the front grille design. The 1971, 1972 style side louver also functions more efficiently in allowing the undercar/engine bay air to be extracted much quicker.

If someone wants to put this style of design in a '73 car, probably the 1970 louver with only the horizontal raised edges would fit with the front grille style of the '73 better in my opinion. The '71 & '72 style would look more out of place, since the grilles for '73 are only ribbed horizontally and not vertically as well.

Yeah, if it was a drop in, bolt on deal I would have them, I just thought it would be different. If I was still lookin your car would have fit the bill, wish I had a chrome bumper vert. Good luck sellin it though.
