thanks but i have an automatic. and i am wondering which shifter will i have to do the least amount of fabrication to in order to get a clean installation. does anyone have a rachet shifter installed?
hey thanks thats exactly what i was looking for. By the way thats a very beautiful car nice job.would the installation of that shifter in my 77 be much different from the installation in you're 80? I am asking becasue i am not familiar with the shifter console in the 80 vettes. I looked for the installation pics on you're site but i was not able to find any of the shifter. If you get a chance could u post the pics or a link to the pics? I currently have a B&M quarter stick in the car if i decide to go with the shifter you're using would it be a simple swap?
The website has tons of links from page to page, but if you have dial up or a slow connection it may take some time to load due to the number of pictures.I have no idea how a different shifter would work, and even B&M said the Megashifter would not fit.
OT, but I got one great idea from your pics. Your tranny shop has a "gutter" installed around their work-table. Great idea to catch all those little pieces during disassembly before they get lost forever on the floor
I went the same route ..... B&M megashifter but had to get the 2 inch shorter shaft . It worked out fine , ofcourse I have modified my console a little .
you had to get a shorter shaft? so if i order that shifter i should ask B&M for the megea shifter with a shorter shaft? did u have to modify the shifter plate by making the hole for the shifter bigger?
I plan to build a C3 drag-race car in the future, and would like to use the HURST Dual-Gate II shifter that is like the one in my '79 Z28:
if it fits 'under' the console, I'll use this aluminum cover that I've modified, so the 'h-pattern' shifter can fit through the hole.

Yes , just like glensgages has posted . But I cut an aluminum plate and mounted it on top of my console .
thanks. i just created a new post because i went to oder my shifter today and the guy from summit got me confused.
here is what i posted:
posted this before and got some really helpful answers. However I just went to place the order to get my B&M Console Mega Shifter and I was told by summit that B&M makes a few different ones. They make the shifter for Late Camaros, Firebirds, and Mustangs. I was told by summit that the only difference in the shifters is the plate that goes in the console. I was wondering if somebody could help me out with which one i should order that would fit best in a 1977 Corvette. Which one had everybody used?
I did not use the one for camaros and firebirds , I got the one with the box and plate though I didnt use them . But it was too tall so I ordered the 2 inch shorter shaft also .
