ZZ502 air cleaners

ZZ502 air cleaners
Got a 502 in the 69 with the L-88 hood....clearance is 1/2" above nut on air cleaner to hood..(this with a 2" drop base).
Was wondering what others have done....my filter element is 14" dia X 2" high...K&N E-3740 (for a 1980 Peugeot,actually)...
