Default Front Spoiler: Yes or No

I purchased a front spoiler for my vette 4 years ago and have yet to put it on, what do you guys think, does Red73 need a front spoiler? Thanks, Rod

Yes.
The Indy ft. spoiler designed for our Vettes w/ wind tunnel scoops up air for cooling, cleans up airflow underneath & sweeps the airflow around the front tires.
Rec. for all 68-79 ! I put mine on as soon as possible, so early that the paint matches & it appears original.
L-82 emblems removed also.

Yes, It was one of the first and cheapest things that I added to my 1976 Vette when I got it.

Will you have enough clearance? Bionicvette had the same problem going in & out of driveways. The spoiler isn't as flexible as the little stock piece.

poll right now is 50-50

Leave it as it is! I dropped mine out when I did the complete overhaul. Looks good on 78 PC though...

I voted but after much deliberation I think it would create driving woes. Looks good as is

As low as your car sits you might just as well mangle it BEFORE you install it.

Looks good like it is!!

Yes, it looks good and its functional. I got a new one on my '75 a few months ago for under $30. When it gets chewed up after a while, I"ll get a new one.

The front of mine hits speedbumps and dips in the road and mine isn't lowered. It's an expensive trip to the body shop just to get that fiberglass fixed everytime. Unless you are driving on very smooth and level roads I say not to bother with it.

Personally I like front spoilers.......particularily the "race car" style aluminum ones found on the Heinz/Johnson or Owens Corning cars .......so I made one (well three actually......third version is going on now). I think it gives the car a meaner, lower look in the front. I say go for it.

F Gregg racing do a pretty cool looking front spoiler with brake ducts built in.

Nick

Aside from the spoiler improving aerodynamics and cooling, I thing the "unspoiled" look of the 73s - 79s looks great. I prefer that look to the front of my '81 (but don't tell her that).

I vote FOR. But unless you can fix fiberglass be prepared to replace it occassionally. The three-piece urethane Pace Car ones are a supposedly little more durable. This happened to my 'glass one 3 hours after I installed it! (fixed it myself though)

Voted no and after looking at your vette still no! that's a looking ride as is. another reason not to is my buddy put one on his and now he has to drive in and out of all driveways on an angle or the spoiler rakes the ground. DON'T DO IT. Sell it on ebay or to another member who needs replace his broken one. my .02

What is the reason that 68-73 gets a "no?" Is is due to appearance or is it because it won't fit on 68-73? (Actually I suspect the answer is that it won't fit. I was surprised to see that an earlier posting suggested it would fit.)
