Default Block I.D. help

I have a "69 convertible that was made with a 350/350 The previous owner said it was now a 327.
The numbers I could see on the pad at the front of the right head read...T4A505610 V127OTMM. The 4th digit in the second group (the 7) has a line under it. I tried Mortec but I still can't figure it out. can anyone help?
Thanks
Sly

That would be a Chevy truck 350. Either a '74 145hp. that came with a 2bbl. and auto, or a '80 170hp. that was equiped with a 4bbl. and auto. Would need the casting # and date to be sure.

sly vette, the first group of numbers and letters is the the assembly stamping the second is the vin deriviteve stamping. v1270tmm indicates flint assembly plant where the all small blocks were assembled the following digits were month and day of assembly and the three suffix letters denote the particular engine, the 1270 makes no sense as there is not 70 days in december. if it is a 327 it may be from an early 327 chev. the book i have only covers 68-82 as far as numbers go. if you can find the block casting number it might help.

The casting # is on the top rear driver's side of the block. Behind the cylinder head, in front of the bellhousing. Casting date (example D-15-74) is in the same spot on the passenger side.

Th numbers I have at that location are a large 23 GM and then 397?010 Anyone up to the chalenge, cause with the other #s from the front of the right head, which are T4A505610 and then V127(with a line under the 7)OTMM I'm confused. Also, all I have on the pass. side behind the head is 2 circular indicators with a pointer in each one that point to nothing.

Okay, you have a 3970010 350 block. The key here is the 3-letter TMM engine suffix. Anytime the first letter is a "T", it originally came in a truck. Since the 3970100 blocks were used in trucks from '69-'79, I'll put my money on it being the 1974 truck engine. TMM was the code for a 350-145hp. w/2bbl. and auto. trans. in 1974, as I said in my first reply. If you look closer on the passenger side of the block, I think you will find the casting date- the characters are much smaller than the casting numbers on the other side.

Any benifits to this engine. It had a cam(fairly heavy),headers,Edelbrock intake,holley750 carb.W/4 speed when I got it in Oct. But it still has the original valve train, as far as I can tell.
