I'm in the South SF bay area here and need some help on my 'vette... like skill that only experience can give. Mine is a daily driver and don't want to give it up if I don't have to, but the reliability is becoming an issue. If someone could help let me know and help me out that would be excellent.
Um... a lot of just general stuff that I don't have the experience to be able to debug/fix. I'm just looking for some guy to partner up with in my area. Are there really no bay area C3 guys?
Just read a post in the c4 tech section about N.Cal.vette shops.Seems they are few and far between.Don't know if you want to go the route of paying a shop for the work. They did mention a shop in San Jose, but didn't give the name.Apparently there is a real good shop in Vacaville.(www.corvette-express.com).You could go on the c-4 tech section and ask about the name of the shop in San Jose. You're close.
Hey Mike, I might be able to help out once in a while but my time is limited. but I also like to see a problem solved on a C3, i have owned 5 in the past year.
You need to make a list on the issues you vette has and pick your battles. I will chime in on the ones I know best.
If you want help you'll get alot better response if you get specific with what your problems are. There aren't alot of guys who are going to commit to making it all good for you because there are few folks who can do it all. One person might be able to help you w/ a tune up while another might help w/ brakes, another w/ suspension....Does this make sense to you? More info would be really helpful.
Yeah I guess that I should have been a little more specific. A lot of it is just tune-up stuff, like getting the idle mixture perfect and the timing perfect and stuff like that. Another thing is electrical, I need to search out a power leak and fix the connection from the starter to the alternator and such. I also would just like someone who knows vettes to look the car over, maybe give her a spin, and let me know where to attack next. I've had the car and been researching my brains out for a little over a year, but just need someone who's done it before to show me the ropes. I also want to try to paint the car in my garage this winter sometime and would like advice on what tools to get/what paint/where to get it all. Any other help is appreciated too, there is nothing perfect on my car .

get a hold of LARS on the forum... he is coming to Bay Area with his tuning for beer tour in Feburary. That is the best bang for your buck as far as the tune up goes.
