Is it just me or are the prices quoted on ProTeam's Corvettes beyond ridiculous? Whenever I want a good laugh or should I say sticker shock, I click on their website. Just took a quick look and they want $39,995 for a 1975 Corvette with over 60,000 miles. Sorry, but that will never happen in my house. It would have to have less than 10 miles and have all the orgininal plastic covers on the seats etc. before I would pay that kind of money for a '75. I have nothing against the plastic bumper cars (I have owned two '77's and loved them). That is just totally ridiculous!
Oops! Sorry, I meant to post this in the General C3 forum.

Reason: Put it wrong forum!
The scary part is that people pay those high prices. I've been to Pro-Team, and it's fun to look at all the big $$$$ Vettes all together in the same spot. They have some very nice cars, but overpriced.
I agree that their prices are extremely high. But they have been in the business in a long time and obviously find buyers to pay their prices. Many people not educated in the hobby will pay crazy prices for cars because they like the car and feel that there is a degree of honesty in dealing with a large specialty used car dealer. If only they knew. Many people will do all sorts of homework when buying a new car and negotiate a real good price to get the car cheap only to turn around and close their eyes and drop their drawers when they look at a used car.
I wonder who would finance and insure a 75 for 40 grand?
I would guess most people are at the point where they can just pay cash. Either that or they are dipping into their home equity, which would give them a better rate than a used car loan, not to mention writing off the interest.
they send me a cataloug each yr. i might read the articles but it usually goes right in the trash. the prices are that high because there are impulse buyers out there that dont know and/or dont care. i seen where kirk hammett ( metallica lead guitar ) paid like 75 g's for a 57'. nuts!

If that's who's buying from them, no wonder they ask so much.
If it was a nicely restored 57 (or a good hot-rod job), that's not really that high. C1s are freakishly expensive, and C2s are climbing up there. That's why we've been seeing a climb in C3 prices the past few years.
I wouldn't pay $5K for a new Toyota, Hyundai, or Kia but there are plenty of folks who do it everyday. I wouldn't sell my Vette for less than $75k and it's 5 years older than that '75!
Whenever I'm checking C3 prices on Classic Car websites and see 'Call for Price' or 'Proteam', I just skip right over them. Sort of like 'If I have to call/ask, I can't afford it...".
I expect Pro-Team to jack the prices by default so I avoid them even if the cars look nice. Just too rich for me.
