idlier puliey
Hello corvette friends I would like to know if a 71 vette with a LS5 auto non air-cond. came with a idlier pulley set up or was it fitted to air-cond. cars as my car has a 3 groove pulley at the water pump / 2 groove crank pulley / 1 groove pulley at the alternator ?it seems odd or may be incorrect pulley set-up ? thank-you.

Can't say for certain, but I think all 454s with A/C and P/S used an idler pulley. My '74 does. Most of them are probably gone by now, as people seem to be going with a smaller belt and forcing it on. The idler pulley helped to offset some of the belt load on the water pump from the A/C compressor. Here's a shot out of the factory AIM manual of the setup:
