Default Block casting numbers and dates

Is there a way to determine casting dates of 427 BBC
3935439 - 427
3955270 - 427
3963512*-427 late production

Block Codes
A-January
B-February
C-March
Etc. Through
J-October
K-November
L-December

Now how could I tell on the Block the date it was built.. How would it look?

Would it be Casting number 3963512 and date code let's say B and how could I tell if it was built in 68 or 69?

Anyone with expertise here please educate me, as I could use a lesson in poperly identifying correctness of a block's inception.

Thanks all

The date code for most of these is on the side of the block between the oil pan and head--I think the drivers side. Later big blocks had the date on the top of the block by the bellhousing.

SHould read something like: B10 9 which would be Feb 10,69.

On the passenger side and normally casted upside down.
