Default Corvette bezel for radio

Looking for a bezel to house a newer style AM/FM CD player in the 1971 Vette. Another member noted one that this bezel is "it's very good quality and matches the regular bezel finish." It's from www.vettespecialties.com - #VS2003 for $65.00.

Any others that are happy with their aftermarket stereo bezels? Looking for something nice but maybe not so expensive...

Thanks!

I have a question to anyone that has replaced the stock radio with a "newer" one.
1. How is the sound quality? What I mean by that is can you hear it .
2. How about value? Are you afraid that this hurts it or not. I know some of you are not worried about it, but do you have the original on hand?

I think you can cover both by keeping the old radio, and keeping the original gauge bezel. A new gauge bezel is about $95.00 (for a 71). Cut the new one and get the DIN adapter (addy's above). That way you, or the buyer can return it to original.
The dash speakers don't seem to deliver sound as good as the footwell speakers. I put 4X6 plate 3-way speakers there, and 6X9 5-way speakers in boxes you can buy at Walmart and put together yourself, in the luggage area. The 6X9 boxes are on long wires so I can push them to the back of the luggage area or bring them up closer to the seats, or take them out for luggage...
I also think you need to considerwhat KIND of vette is it? Super rare? or sb auto? What do you use it for? Do you have side pipes, and you couldn't hear a radio, anyway? Mines a sb auto cruiser vert, mostly original...but the reward of having changed the TH400 to a 200R4 overdrive, and putting in the new DIN stereo has created a car that is really nice to drive. Yet, I can give the buyer the original TH400, gauge bezel and radio.
Best of all, I can actually hear my stereo at 70 with the top up or down.

Thanks for the bezel leads guys.

I did what fjetb did in his Vette to my 1970 Vette when I owned it. 4x6's in the kicks and 6x9's in boxes in the rear compartment. Enjoyed the stereo with lots of sound from the front and rear - best of all - listened to my favorite CD's.... I did not reconnect the original dash speakers.

I placed a Pioneer AM FM Cassette deck in my original 68 dash many years ago without cutting. I ran wires through the console tunnel to the glove box in the center rear which houses an amp that powers two rear speakers that I can unplug and you never know they were there. The sound is loud enough to vibrate your chest bone and I have the stock AM FM Stereo which I can put back in the car if I want to. Not a problem as I will never sell the car as I have only had it since 1972 and plan to keep it until I'm gone. Then it's my son's car.
The Pioneer has left to right and front to rear fader and balance for the four speakers and sounds good. I wanted something I could hear when cruising with the t-tops off. It's a small block L-79, not a big block but it sounds like a Corvette should. No side pipes but I have the factory off road exhaust.

I put my speakers in boxes in the rear as well. I did not see the need for an amp and I still can crank it up louder then my ears can take. Of course I am an old man of 49 and listen to classic rock not rap. The radio has 50 watt outputs feeding the 90 watt 4"X10" speakers.

Great & yes can hear the difference even over much newer & better stereos than the original. I pulled the original in the 70s & haven't seen it since ...

Thanks for shedding some light on this for me. Looks like I 'll pick up the original and throw a CD player in for the drives.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the instrument bezel for a 68-72 and a 72-76. Besides the seat belt button. Is there a shape difference or anything visibly different between the two.

I don't think there is any "shape" difference. Then again I could be wrong.

Here's the CD bezel with the CD player installed into a restored center guage cluster - currently on the bench but going into the car very soon...

Thanks for the comments on the resto of the guage console.

The interior guage cluster and all consoles are now installed and the stereo is hooked up. I put a set of 4x6's in the upper dash and another set of 4x6's in the kicks, along with the boxed 6x9's in the rear the audio sounds fantastic...

Does any one have pictures of their bezel after the cut it but before they put the plastic face plate on. I would like to see how much I need to cut out. I have mine cut just enough for the radio carrier to go in but the plastic faceplate will not sit flush up against the bezel.
