The best feeling I get is when I hit the key the engine actually starts.

Don't spend much time over here in C3 unless I am looking in the parts section. All the generations have something to offer. I have a C3 (73) and if you want a drive and really feel a car she is the one. If you want to be comfortable C5, If you want go fast and bells and whistles I drive the C6. Everything you mentioned in the previous posts are true. Something special about the C3. But remember they all have the word Corvette on them and they all are just a special. JMHO

Merry Christmas ALL

The main reason that the C4 thru C6 guys don't seem to know too much, or don't get too technical, is because they CAN'T. The C4's and newer are all computerized and loaded with relays and electronics that make an afternoon "tweeking" impossible. If you raise the hod and cnat'e se a carb nd headers then something's wrong. To me, a big part of classic / muscle car hobby is the tuning, experimenting, and tweeking. This has been taken away from us on the newer cars. While ALL Corvettes are great cars, the nwere generations have been dumbed down for boulevard cruising. They may be faster, but they have lost that pure raw muscle car feel.

Just mt TCW.

I used to have a 78 Silver Anniversary and my boss had an 02 Z-06. We were driving around getting some pictures taken and people kept coming up to talk about my vette and just ignored his. It happened several times that day. At the end we both knew who's car attracted the most attention.

I'd love to have a C-5 or 6, but I just can't see driving a $40,000 dollar car in rush hour traffic.

My wife calls it "the therapist".

After a sh!tty day, she'll say "Go drive that damn car and don't come back for at least 30 minutes".

Works every time.

The best C3 feeling? For me, when I plant the throttle, get slammed into the seat back and the rear starts to break loose.

Best feeling is to look at the person in the car next to you and catch them staring, jealous with envy.

You get used to it - trust me. If you're going to be stuck in traffic, no reason you shouldn't enjoy it.

Default I purchased my C3 in 1974

it's a 71 Vert, LT-1. I am the second owner.I can still remember looking out the front window and seeing those trick front fenders rising up above and out from the hood and feeling the roar of the side-pipes as you go thru the gears. It's hard to believe it's been almost 30 years since it's been on the road. Just about to the body back on after a frame-off. But it now has a 383ci/489hp/495tq stroker so it's going to be even more fun to drive.

Can't wait, now I have a 19 year old son to enjoy it with.

Nothing in this world (cars) better than a C3. Looking out over those fenders...gawd, I love it. I bought my '71 in 1977. I was 19, and in love. Now, I'm 47, but I'm still in love. Exact same car..different woman..new dog.

I remember throwing up when our C4 debuted. Biggest letdown of my life.
Looked like a doorstop. Still looks like a doorstop.

I do like the C5. Curvy, sexy, damn near like a C3. Damn near.

C6? Jury still out. Wish I was 19 again..

Bought my 72 LT-1 four years ago. No power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioning, no power windows. My biggest thrill is still the idea of owning the car I loved while growing up. I still remember the first day I drove it and felt like I became an extension of the car. A function of the raw mechanics of it. I still feel that way even today and it brings a grin at the stop light when someone comments with a "thumbs up". I love the coolness of the C-3 and that it is old enough to not be included with the "wine and cheese " crowd anymore. (I'm grinning again...)

Vette76te

They're not faster than mine or any C3 owner who doesn't allow them to be. That is part of the charm of a C3; easy modifications and low dollar, easy performance. I also love the view from inside a C3. I love the sharp fenders, especially with an L88 hood. While I like the C6 corvette, the hood looks like it came off a passenger car. It doesn't have the same look as a C3 hood has.

i wish i could own one of every year, but my c3 would still be my favorite by far, like the man said looking between those fender humps is an awesome experience, not there on the others

I've never driven another model of Vette (they aren't that common here) so can't compare. What I do know is that I love the view out over those fenders, the low down torque & the 8 piece band that bellows out of the back. Fantastic. Another plus point is that I can get away with listening to obscure 70's music What I'm not that sure about is looking down the throats of a lot of open mouthed on-coming motorists. That's not a pretty view, not pretty at all
