I do not like the hood opening system. has anyone seen/tried the old style locking hood latches w/pins? Could the hood bolts be extended through the hood? I hate the current system. It has broken once already. Ideas? TIA
77 system is fine & hood opens in the correct direction. I have thought about adding hood pins to my hi rise 'glass hood on 88 SS.
If you are going to add hood pins, it should be set up so that 1 person can open the hood fast.
Ya sure ya want to hack away at the vette??
Maybe a complete replacement of the current system would be better??
My hood system DOES have it's own personality, but would never put on hood pins on that this beauty...PLEASE...think it thru before you drill..
Personally I would just fix the stock hood latching system. Mine has worked just fine for years and I open my hood on a pretty regular basis.
I think the only time I would use hood pins is if I had a car that the hood hinged in the rear and I drove really fast in. Safety issue then.

i have the 1pc eckler hood and it's recommended that u use hoodpins as they have a tendency to unlatch as i soon found out the hardway, cost me a center grill and a scary experience. u can see where i put the hoodpins in the 1st pic. i've had the hoodpins on there for 15yrs, they do the job.
