Has anyone out gone so far as to replace the hold down strap in the cargo area for secure the t-tops when not in use? I think I found mine balled up under the jack! Where does it hook to and where can I find replacement hooks?
Over a course of time I bought several T-top straps on ebay. Then I took the best of the lot and sent them to Ssnake-Oyl for refurbishment. My 70 Vette has two independant T-top straps: two single strings of straps. Later year Corvettes have a single Y strap. I sent Ssnake-Oyl a NOS single strap and a good condition used single strap. They changed the color and rechromed the slightly used strap's fittings. The total cost was $80.00.
The "Y" strap I found in the car is in remarkably good shape. I cleaned it with some laundry soap and it looks pretty good. Where does it hook to once the t-tops are in the bags?
Corvette Central has the holddown hooks, they are actually called footman loops part #603001 two in the back, one in the center above the P-brake console, hope this helps.
I have a 73 with the 3 hooks in the rear compartment.
The center one is above the e-brake console. The other 2 ( Y part ) are on top of the fender wells in the rear compartment. When I put in new carpet I found the holes where they would mount to. The hooks look like the letter C or U and have two screw holes for each one.
