Default striping paint from emblems?

hey, just a quick question. ive got 1 of my crossed flags sitting in a can of lacquer thinner right now, been there for about 4-5hrs so far. besides haveing some of the dirt and crap wash off of them, the pain seems to be untouched so far. does that seem normal? i dont strip much paint so i dont know how long i should be expecting these to soak to get the paint off them.

after soaking the emblems for almost 24 hrs now, besides the dirt and crap falling off there appears to be no real signs of paint comeing off.

looks like ill be trying acetone in the comeing days.

You might try some liquid paint stripper. However, it might be a costly approach since you probably don't need too much.

well good news. i used my moms nail polish remover, since it is acetone based, and it took it right off the first emblem. the lacquer thinner must have really softened it up.

the 2nd emblem i didnt soak last night, but the acetone isnt working well on that one. its currently soaking in nail polish remover right now, with how well that stuff works it should be ready to come off in about 10 mins.

Glad to hear that your mom's nail polish remover worked. Just do us all a favor and stay out of her nail polish, ok?

J/K by the way...

ill have pictures up in a day or 2 of the first finished one. i think i may need a 2nd coat on the red to smooth it out a bit, and the whites a little thin so thatll need a 2nd coat. overall its starting to look quite nice.

When you buy paint stripper look at the list of ingredients. If you want really potent stripper, look for a brand that contains 100% methyl chloride. Most strippers, intended for general public use, will include methyl chloride in addition to ethanol, acetone, etc. They include the latter so that their strippers aren't so dangerous for general public use.

Methyl chloride dissolves (destroys) paint, plastic, grease, oil, skin, eyes, etc.
