i have an 1968 CORVETTE & CHEVROLET PROTECTION PLAN BOOKLET WITH METAL TAG & 4 PAGE POLLUTION CONTROL PAMPHLET in NM shape

it is perferated from GM with the VIN and the protect o plate on the back is stamped

it came with my car but obviously isnt right as it not my VIN

I don't think that is a Corvette number. Corvette would be 19467 or 19437 i think. Also the F is for Flint MI, Vetes were S - St. Louis.

Depends on what kind of car it's for. POPs and original docs for collector cars (including '68 vettes like yours) go for pretty good change on ebay, even though it's highly unlikely the owner of the original car is bidding. If it's for some high production commuter type car, it's probably not worth much.

vin # 164398 is for an 1968 Impala SS 2 door hardt top.

I bought a protecto plate that is for a 1968 corvette that is a number approximately 100 away from my number. I bought it just for fun, just to have it, and with the idea that if I ever found a number closer to my own I would swap. (Not that I expect to ever find the one with my actual number). And if I ever found the car that goes with the POP that I have I would sell it to the owner cheap. Anyway, I paid about $10 for mine. You find them on ebay all the time and they don't go for much, unless of course it is for a 67 tripower vette.


another fun thing you can do - the POP should have the original owner's name on it. See if you can look up the original owner and ask him about the car he bought back in 68!
