Default Opinions on ebay HEI distributor

Anyone try these?

HEI distributor link

The seller has good feedback, and many are for this distributor. But, I was hoping some of you might have some hands-on experience with this HEI setup. I'm looking to convert my points to HEI, and this looks like a decent deal. Whatcha think?

I can't talk from experience on those particular units, but I can tell you the one on sale at Jegs for $89 right now is a decent unit. I'm running one on my L48 right now. Well, it's 3am here at the moment, so not RIGHT now.

That looks like a awsome deal, I gave $129 for mine at O'reillies and still had to buy a coil.

I'd say go for it!

Just an obvious note for you. That distributor looks like a regular one without the tach drive gear. If your car is a 73 it won't work for your tach unless you've converted to electronic. There is someone else on Ebay who sells the HEI's with the tach gear for around $200.

I have a dash mounted electronic tach, so I'm not messing with the tach drive stuff anymore. Thanks for the opinions so far. I'll wait a little longer and see if anyone has actually used one of these ebay deals.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. So, I called them. Very nice, helpful and apparently they buy butt-loads of them at one time and thus why they can offer such a price. The guy I spoke to said they just got 5 pallets of them in yesterday, 3 yr warranty and I'm sold. One on order.

I didn't even think of calling them. I guess that makes sense on how they can offer such a good price. With a 3 year warranty, I guess it's worth a try.

BTW, did you inquire about the plug wires they offer? I need to replace mine along with the HEI unit.

I put one similar to that in my old '76.
It was not exactly the same, but the guy I bought it from then used to get them from China. I paid $45 for a complete new distributor which worked perfectly for several years (it was still in there when I sold the car). This was in like 2000 or 2001.

Just fyi.
