Default So much Rattle!

Does any one else’s car annoyingly rattle when ever you hit a small bump or close the door. I really would like to cut down on the rattling areas. I suspect the biggest contributor being the doors and widows. Any Ideas how to cure this problem?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

I'll start.

Take everything out of the interior.

First lay down heat shield/sound deadener of your choice--Dynomat etc.

Now, put it all back using tons of cotton fiber insulation crammed into every gap and oriface.

Also use cork tape at every screw juncture and where ever plastic meets plastic, use liberal amounts--it's gooey/sticky. Also use this tape to secure wires.

I have done this to mine--there are no rattles unless I'm on a very very rough road--then the whole body shakes.

This is a pretty straight forward job that can be done in 2 or 3 weekends.

It is all worth it when a 1st time C3 passenger says, "I didn't know Stingrays were so luxurious--it's like riding in a Lexus."

When I put mine back together I took one tool at a time and tightened everything it would fit. The insulation and sound pad made a huge difference in the interior noises.

Also have the window rollers replaced if they are worn. You can also spray a Dynomat substance in the doot skins.

Check to see if all your bumpers are in place that hold the windows tight inside the door.

Sounds like your window rollers and bumpers are shot. I had the same problem.

You need to remove the glass and regulator to get to the rollers. At the same time, you can clean and regrease the mechanism.

Now - on a more serious note (had to stop laughing). The windows are the most likely culprit - rework them, and most of the rattles will probably be gone. Then you can hone in on any others - using the advice given in some of the other posts.

Good luck!
