Default Speakers speakers everywhere!

Ooh Rah there hoo yas. I have an oppurtunity to get my hands on some top of the line speakers tomorrow and dont know what size to put in the dash of a "79. I believe 6x9" will fit in the rear, 4x6 in the kick panels, but dont know what to put in the dash. If any of you could help me out I'd appreciate it no end. Thanks again!!

4x6 in the dash is a direct fit in a 79. I just put some Alpine ones in my 79.

CRAZY setup there onaqwst!! What are all the buttons for next to the shifter console. I guess two would be for the PW, but the rest? Gotta say that is a pretty custom vette

i haven't had the cash to really finish up the interior yet..... i was let go from my construction gig (2.5 years working for the builder) back in may and been trying to get my company back rolling again...... that's where i stopped the project....

new upgrades will be
new morphed gauges/radio/dvd/monitor/switches/air ride in the shifter/gauges console
new steering wheel
floor mats
re upolhestered (sp) seats
interior trim stripped and repainted (the right way)

i also need to redo the pulleys/water pump/belts/ and maybe new electric fans

also installing air ride so i can go over tracks and bumps without ripping off my oil pan or tierods/ps lines

i have been looking at steering wheels also but can't see spending 300 for a wheel..... plus i need a small one.....around 13" or so.....

i'm trying to enter it in a car show in 3 months and possibly win some trophies for the custom rod area or something.......

i might redo the dash also in the fall...... try to make it fit in a bit better with some curves and stuff...not sure yet.......

b
ohh yeah the switches
in order from top to bottom
guages
radio
sub amp
amp fans
extra

i just drive it on good days with the tops off most of the time...... the fresh air vents let in some heat so that's good on the cool nights..... it feels good driving the vette man.......i remember when my dad would let me drive his 74 for a month during the summer.....that was what got me hooked....... sure i get the evil eye from people but i get alot of thumbs ups and hooks.....so far no chest portions yet..hehe...... i've been trying to hang with some c3 guys in the area..... the c5 guys seem to be tools........ hopefully soon i can get my vette and my company back on track...... not much work in detroit for architecture related items......

John I have a 79 also, 4x6 in the dash and either 6.5 or 6x9 in the rear your choice. But you have to upgrade the indash stereo. I put in a pioneer 50 watt x 4 flip face cd unit w/remote control. Looks sick.

MEGALADON, Just wondering, where did put the batterie in your setup. Did you relocate it somewhere or is it under all that plexiglass? I like the set up by the way, thats why I'm asking.

probably referring to my setup....it's still in the stock location under the amps...... i installed 2 battery posts under the car just in case i have to charge the battery and get into my car....since i don't have handle/locks....have to make sure the door poppers work....and i wired the windows on a constant wire/fuse to the battery so if anything happens, i can roll down the windows without having the ignition on.... coat hanger trick...
