Default Found Two Corvettes today

On my usual Saturday morning coffee run I went past an old farm that is now being cleared out for a developement. A patch of woods has been cut away exposing the back of a row of houses on the next road over. I saw in the back yard of one house a maroon 75 and two houses down a 78-82 (I cant be sure yet). went around the block to the front and knocked on the doors. nobody home at each place. I can't wait until Monday to try again. They both look badly neglected.

Stopped today and was allowed to look, its an 80, Inside is shot & soaking wet ,frame rust , birdcage rust , looks like the motor hasn't run in years. Last inspection was 98. very poor condition. I asked him what would be the least amout for the car and he said the least he would take is $5000. It seems very hard to get someone to sell project cars at a reasonable price. I'll wait and ask again next summer.

Sounds like a good deal. Add around $15k in parts and refurbishing and you'll have an $8000 car (maybe).

What's the scoop on the 75 Corvette you saw first? Any luck talking to that owner?

Nobody answering the door. I have a feeling someone is home but not sure. I might do a routine driveby until I see someone out or a different car in the drive. I don't want to go around back and look without permission. P.S. not that this has anything to do with it but , there is dog-poop everywhere. GROSS

Don't worry about the dog poop. That's just from "Fluffy", the 100 pound Rottweiler!

I gave $2200 for my 82 with a shot interior, solid body, light frame surface rust - but nothing past that. And I drove it home It still had the original tires on it, dry rot and all!

When I hear of people that think thier "projects" are gold it makes me thankful that I stumbled on the one I did.

Sad but true.

And if they really expect to get $5000 for the the car in the condition you describe....

i am k-i-n-d o-f glad i stumbled on the one i did... how i did. As it was described it was a ready to drive car... just sat a little while...new oil and battery... a little carb tuning..

as it turned out the guy was a creep (an alumni of my fraternity!) and was going to charge me 6 grand for the vette in my avatar... IT WOULDN"T EVEN CRANK! sat for 10 years!!!!!!!!(which he had told me 3-4) but i ended up giving him 3 because of the condition, now that i put my christmas gift (edelbrock rpm air gap) on and rebiuld the entire top end!... i couldn't be happier runs very strong now...

it doesn't matter if this vette takes me 5 years to finish it how i want it... just to know i saved it from his molestation helps me sleep at night!

and by the way this forum rocks! couldn't have done it without you guys

btw... goodluck with those vettes... maybe the 75 owner won't be liek that!
