I just finished a weatherstripping replacement on my '77 -- replaced all the pieces and so far it looks like it came out pretty good. Except, the drivers window hits the external clip on the a-pillar weatherstripping -- any idea how to adjust/fix that clearance issue?
Also, along the same line, I noticed bubba had done some work to the drivers side window motor and installed it wrong -- the little "tab" was not in the hole, and I think it bent the motor bracket a little. The symptom is the door has a "vibration" sound when it's slammed due to the bracket vibrating against the inner part of the door. Any idea how to "secure" that to rid of that problem?
That "external clip" acts as a guide for the glass as it rises up. Don't be concerned if it lightly grazes it. (makes for a tight seal) If you study the contours & curves of the glass & pillar, the glass actually rises in an arch...so that clip is necessary to align everything.

Eddie,
It's a little more than a "grazing" as you say ...the window actualy hangs up on the clip and I have to lower the window and raise it back up to get around it. That's why I was curious if the tilt of the window was off or soemthing. The back of the glass looks prettty parallel to the body, so I figured it was straight. I don't see a lot of room for error in the install of that clip, so I wasn't sure why it would be off now.
After the door panel is removed, there is an adjustment of the verticle glass tracks along the top of the door. Four bolts (fore & aft two per track) allow you to adjust the glass out (away from car) or in (tword car).
Heres a pic

I spent some time this afternoon working with it and it looks like the air pressure inside is causing the window to "bow out" slightly during closure which accounts for the interference. I pulled the T-top off and then it closed without issue.
So, based on the fact its air pressure, I would kind of assume I would need to tilt the glass in slightly to overcome the compression of air, or is a tilt of the glass more beneficial?
BTW, nice pic Eddie -- if I could only pull the skin off the door, I'd have easy access to the whole works
