i set my arms on a bench and had 2 propane torches heating up the bushings....melt them out..... takes about 2 minutes..... just make sure u are on the bushing and not the arm.....and it smells....do it out side
and can u measure the new bushing for me....the diameter that slips in the arm...thanks
Drilling them out works well. Cut off the flange of the bushing with a razor knife, and then use a 1/8" bit or so to drill as many holes as you can around the perimeter of the inner sleeve. They come out pretty easy that way.
Of course you have the press so you could just press them out...
Thanks...wasnt sure if this one of those items that you have to fight with to get them out. I removed all the suspension from the car so within next couple days Ill start at getting them pressed out and the new poly ones in.
One other thing, If you're going poly you can re-use the outer bushing sleeves if you need to. I'm guessing your poly bushings came with new outer sleeves so it's probably a non-issue but if you plan to re-use the outer sleeves you may want to consider using one of the non-press options given above.
so from what you are saying is that the metal part that is pressed into the control arm can be left in, and the new poly part inserted where the rubber bushing is now?

If the shells are in good condition you should be able to insert the poly bushings easily. I had the new shells pressed into my control arms, but the greased bushings could be pressed in by hand. My bushings also came with a new inner sleeve so I tossed all of the old stuff.
