Default New Valve Covers

I'm looking into buying new valve covers, checking out what Summit has. I found a few that I like but they dont have holes for breathers. Would it be a problem to run without breathers, and what would I use for oil fillers?

Not a good idea to run w/out breathers. Most aftermarket valve covers have breather spots on the top you need to punch them out and file the inside rim. Then install gromit & breather.

i agree with Jim.. I really wish that intake makers would put the oil fill on the intake again like the intakes in the early 60's had...

Do you have any performance part places local? Maybe you could go look at them and see if they have punch outs in the bottom.

In the pictures mine only has 1 breather but some how it has 2 now. It had these valve covers on it when I bought it. It took me about 4 hours to get them to look decent.

Well if you didn't want to poke holes in the top of new parts, the valve covers could always be removed to add oil....good time to adjust the solids too.

That's the exact ones I have. They'll look great and won't be as hard to keep clean as chrome ones are.

These are the black crinkle finish, they look realy nice in person.

Vetteonr
I tried to install them yesterday but my bolts weren't long enough because they have a built in hold down tab, so the bolts that I have are only flush with the bottom of the valve cover. Did you get new bolts and from where?

Thanks
Dan
