I used to run Cragars and while they look right, they also peel off the chrome in just a few years. Even if you took good care of them they still peeled.
What will I probably buy next? 15" Cragars..... OH WELL!
you crager guy probably know already, but now you can get cragers in larger diameters. its just a preference thing. ive never liked cragers. probably cause we grew up poor and every car you saw had cragers, or keystones. i remember the cool guys had the centerlines. ( lost my fondness for them as well ) . IMO the c3 body style is so outragous, that its hard to find the proper wheel to go with the look. IMO. the tt-2 or the boyd wheel just look right. although im leaning towards the tt with the grey spokes for my 78. 17 in front 18 in back. maybe next yr.
How am I suppose to remember all their names? I think her name was Lolla or Lori or something with an "L"? Now if you saw Brenda or Brandy? (I'm terrible with names) she was really hot, but I didn't get a picture of her with the Vette.
does need to have a vette in the pic. half the time who cares what else is in the pic. lets see Brandy......
looks like she's been cut and pasted actually...ok, so what mag was it, i wanna see the whole spread
I thought it was a cut & paste also but he did a nice job you can see her arm in the reflection in the hood. Cut & paste is ok if the girls hot enought
I've owned them both. I had a buddy with a blue 454" '71 while we were in high school. He had Cragars on it and it was absolutely perfect looking!
I used regulat TT's on my '67 when I first put it together. Later the polished TTII's came out and my wife bought me a set.
But lately I've been lusting over the old Cragars!
The differences are that regular TT's usually need a thin spacer to clear calipers on a Vette. No big deal I routinely ran it to 140-150 mph on "tests" and had no issues.
The later polished TTII's have a different curvature on the rear of spokes and they clear just fine with no spacers.
The Cragars will also need spacers.
Whatever you do...don't go nuts with the 'bling" wheels. Many 17's and for sure the 18"+ just look dorky. Those little thin rubber band tires look lost in the C-3 wheelwell.
Put a nice set of Cragar 15's on it and be cool!!
JIM
American racing sells Torque thrust "D"s, and you don't need spacers. Mine were 4.25" offset, and clear the calipers about .125". Just about everyone says they make the car. I'm real happy with them.
Amen brother, the word skate board comes to mind. In my opinion no other car calls for tall fat tires more than a C3....
Actually, I decided to go even MORE old-skool... I bought Cragar "smoothies," 15X10 for the rear, 15X8 for the front... gonna run 275/60s in back, 235/60's in the nose...
Of course, my car is ALL about looking old-school, with a 6-71 Jimmy blower sticking through the hood topped by an Enderle bug-catcher...
I've come to the conclusion that it's better to spend <$300 on new chrome rims that, because of their sheer simplicity, are both smooth AND elegant.... than spend $1400-1600 for the exact SAME rims that every OTHER C-3 owner is running (TT2s).
