I am looking for a Plastic squirrel cage for my 81 , the only ones I am locating are metal ( which I dont want .... not working ... too large of a diameter for the hole ) .
i bought mine from carquest for my 73 you should be able to get a 80's i would think.. i got a deeper one for more air flo and made a spacer,,,but your talking wide not deep ..should be able to get one at auto parts store..you are talking about the squirrell cage of the blower motor right?
Yes , for the heater/air conditioner . I have checked with O riellys and autozone and they both are metal and actually are from the same company . Even Ecklers showed thiers to be metal . I'll check a few other local parts stores but will probably come up with the same thing . I dont know if this cage will be still be available from G M .
I got it C3 RV, I call it the blower motor. Thanks, I never heard it referred to as that.
Before we mislead anyone, the motor and the fan are separate components in some vehicles - the circular squirrel cage fan and the electric motor. I haven't had my C3 apart yet - is that the way it is on our cars?

it looks like the thing that the hamster runs around! how it got to be called a squirrell cage i dont know..maby people usedto have squirells as pets and gave them exercise wheels also!,,,how about the one that we talked about last year ''dog house'' the frt clip on a car (fenders and hood) lot of guys here never heard that either,,i remember it called hat as a kid in the late 60's eairly 70's..
Thanks everyone for the clarification. I would always separate the 2 by calling them the blower motor and fan. I just never heard it referred to as Squirrel cage.
Didn't I see something like that in mouse cages? Hmmmm
Finally got the whole motor and fan from the local O'riellys auto part store ..... ended up being a s-10 pick up application . Sure is great to have heat again .
The GM dealer tried selling me one but the fan was way too long .
