According to "Chevy by the Numbers", the 427 390 and 400 blocks were 2 bolt mains.
I wouldn't spend the money to update it to 4 bolt mains if you're going to sell it. Let the prospective buyer decide if he wants 4 bolt mains or not. I don't think you'd recoup the cost for the conversion.
I appreciate the info - I would not do the changeover to 4 bolt - just kinda curious about it. The checking of the block is important for me to feel comforatable about even puting it up for sale. With the magnaflux. etc investment, I feel reasonably sure about getting a buyer. A guy who deals in speacial blocks confirmed your price estimate he said 900-1400.
Mozuch.. I will be taking the block to a reputable shop along with the heads next week. Let me know if you still have interest - I may put them on Ebay.
I see I have the block/crank, but no pistons/rods...... don't ask. Maybe I gave them to the guy who rebuilt the updated motor. I know I gave him a rare intake at the time too. I have the valves/springs too from the heads.
I know Mom will be happy that I got these out of her garage - they have been there since 1980. Now all I have to do is get rid of the other Corvette parts (tranny old hood, etc)

OK - I had the block and heads cleaned, magnafluxed and miked (sp?). All was good and the bore and crank are standard dimensions Ready to get these on the market.
