Looking for help
Good morning! Just received my first corvette ever - 1979. I have no clue as to any "special" issues with this monster. Any help, any ideas, any secrets as to how best to care for this baby would be much appreciated. Thanks!

First of all you need to get an AIM (assembly manual). Also you can find lots of help at www.corvettefaq.com but be assured if you ask here you will get an answer.
Maybe more than you asked for but you will get help. I learned alot just by spending time on the forum and reading the different threads.

Typical issues:
Power steering leaks....
I would begin by changing all fluids,radiator flush..etc..
You may want to suck rear end oil out and replenish with proper GM lubricant and additive...also check rubber fuel hoses from fuel pump/tank....the list is long....timing,spark plugs,wires,etc..inspect everything...have fun...

check your area for a local corvette club. See what they'e into and you may find one that suits you.
I'm in Club Corvette of CT and we have the largest membership in the NE. I ran a technical class the past few years showing guys how to rebuild/repair their C2 & C3's. Maybe you'll find something like that in your area?

The best advice I can give you is to stay close to this Forum and you will get much help with most nay problem you encounter.

i'd suggest spending a weeks worth of nights just scanning through the history of the forum posts. you will get SO many ideas and helpful hints. the folks on this forum are just super helpful.
look at the sites for parts suppliers (forum sponsors) and figure out which ones suit you the most. ebay will also be a good source as well for components.
then i'd get the car to a baseline that you are comfortable with -- new fluids, belts, hoses and anything that doesn't require too much tear down. once there, you'll begin to get the feel of what's next. that's where the fun begins.....be patient on any repairs. congrats, welcome and good luck.

Welcome to the world of vette owners. Don't forget to waive at other corvette drivers as you drive by...vette etiquette.
The only tricks to know is dig in and have fun. If you ever have brake issues then definitely consult the forum. Rotor runout can cause problem and make headaches (as I learned).
