When I bought the '69 I flew to Pittsburgh and drove it back...around 2,400 miles
Sweet! I did something similar for my 73 - flew to Atlanta and then drove it home to San Diego, about 2200 miles, about 2.5 days. Only problem: a new tire in Tyler Texas. Top speed about 117 mph thru the desert of CA. Unforgetable trip.
So far, bringing is home from 1.5 hours away is the longest, that was this past Halloween day. A lifelong dream of mine has been to take a cross country road trip in a restored Vette. Actually, my car has already done that, just not with me. The previous owner was military, so it went from Oklahoma to Oregon, from Oregon to Virginia.
Longest trip for me was in the early '80's with my Dad. We drove his custom 69 Vert from NY to CA over a period of 2 weeks. Had 1 breakdown in Mentor Ohio that kept us in a hotel over a weekend. We lost a rear wheel bearing during a blizzard. The rest of the trip was pretty much care free with the exception of an engine miss that cropped up along the way. Turned out to be a plug wire that was getting cooked on the Hooker sidepipes. We stopped in Vail, CO to do some skiing, Las Vegas for some gambling, saw the Grand Canyon, We hit the coast then drove up from L.A. to San Francisco while watching the ocean. Did a BUNCH of stuff along the way.
I doubt I will ever top that but who knows? I do have a car crazy 5Yr old that might want to road trip some day.
Last summer went from N. Jersey to Columbus, Ohio, 525 miles each way. Ran with the air on the whole time and no problems. I'm going to drive to Pigon Forge, TN. in June for the C3VR gathering. That should be great.
