Default trim and emblem removal

Not too long ago someone rubbed up along the front bumper and left fender. Not too bad, just and estimate of $1600. Luckily, insurance is paying it. The painter at the insurance company referred body shop said that the only problem would be that the color would be hard to match because it's current paint, original or not, is fading in spots. He offered to respray the car for another $1500 as a side job for the painter himself. That's only if I remove the emblems and trim. I've never removed trim off of fiberglass and what about the t top chrome? Does this sound resonable? I don't have 7 grand for a complete stripping and repaint. Will a respray on top of the existing paint hold for long or just wash off when I wash the car for the first time?

Thanks for any help.

I certainly hope it will hold since that's what I'm planning to do with mine.

I was hoping to get a little more feed back from others about paint. Did you here that it was an okay way to go?
