Default Small but important question

I am working on small details during the cold New England months. Has anyone replaced a console plate before, the plate on the shift console that details the engine size, HP etc.? I have a new one in hand and my questions is; is the original plate a decal or is it a graphic that is painted on the console. I was trying to lift the plate off with a exacto knife but it seems as though the original plate is not a decal but a graphic painted on the console.

Anyone replace this part before and can expain.

It should just be a small metal plate that can be removed. They sell many replacement ones online and they simply glue right into place. I had to move mine from my original console plate to the new one I put in because the original had been drilled in many places. I pryed the old one up with a small thin flat-head scewdriver and then attached it on the new one with emblem adhesive.

Default small question resolved

HI Marty, you were right on, the original console plate is also a decal and after a few attempts at different angles the old was replaced with the new. Small details but nice when original parts look like new.

Thanks for the response!
