I Have A 78 Pace Car--#636
It Has Factoy Check Sheets Numbered To The Car
Full Set, Not In Front Of Me But I Think 14 Sheets
Long Story Short, T Was Told The Guy That Order The Car Went And Watched It Be Built, New Someone At Corvette Got The Papers/if Got Caught You Would Be Fired The Story Goes
Do Think This Is True And If So Any Value
They Are The Only Ones I Have Ever Seen With Any Corvette
Just Wondering
Thanks

Their value would be to the owner of the vehicle and simply document the vehicle's configuration. There is a difference between build sheet (per your subject title) and check sheets...so which is it? Can you scan or shoot an image? If so post or send to me at
I've got the rear bumper off my car. I can see the fuel tank. Where is this build sheet I hear everyone talking about?
The sheet was glued to the top of the tank, usually on the driver side. It's not that important for your 80. You should be able to get a copy of yours from the Corvette Museum or directly from GM. The tank stickers are important for older cars where the tank sticker may be the only way the verify factory options. For $50 I got a copy of the window sticker and build sheet for my 92. I wish that I could do that for my 70.
It should be right on top next to the gas filler neck. Mine is still there but I do not dare to try pulling it off and it would just crumble. I called and got a copy of my dealer invoice and that has all the info I needed/wanted to know.

Hi Al, I've got the twin to your car and I can tell you mine was not on top of the fuel tank. It was HANGING between the backside of the fuel tank and the storage area right above the leaf spring. I found mine while changing out the rear leaf spring. It was hanging down attached by some type of glue, very dried out and fragile, I got most of it intact, it was fairly readable. My car only had 15k miles on it when I found it and was never exposed to rain or snow so it held up pretty well.
Corvette Museum will not have info on anything before 1981 all 1980 cars were built in St. Louis.
When the sun comes up, I'll get out there and look behind the tank. Thanks for the info. Though it really doesn't matter, How do I contact someone at GM or the Vette Museum to get a copy?

At one time you could get a copy of your build sheet FREE from GM, now I think there is a $50.00 fee. Contact Peggy at GM. Her email is peggy.vezina@gm.com.
Sorry. Museum starts in 81. But many have had success from GM or whoever runs it now. I think $50 is well worth it. I'd pay much more for docs on my car.

Do you know what year cars? I have a 75 convertible and would like that.
I'm a new vette owner and why is having a build sheet so important? Is it worth the $50?
For most corvettes it's not important, just a novelty. I got one for my 92. It's just nice to have. But for cars with rare and desireable options the build sheet, tank sticker, or other documentation proves that those options were originally installed. Take a look at the price difference between in 69 300hp car and a 69 435hp BB. Lots of fake BB cars. The documentation proves the car is what it appears to be.
