your in the same boat i'm in. still looking for a vette.
learn as MUCH as you can before hand. read everything you can get your hands on, learn what engines were in what year, (ecpecially the year you are looking at) and learn how to read vin numbers, and where they are located on the block, to prove if it is matching numbers are not.
YOU do the talking. you tell him what is what. don't let him tell you. if he thinks you don't know much, he will take advantage of you.
of course, you will run into some real smart, good, honest people when you go looking, and you should pick thier brains.
i guess you'll have to go by your gut on that, so you know who is full of it, and not.
