I think the reason this isn't done on our cars is those gas shocks exert constant pressure on the hood, causing it to possibly bow upwards when closed. Maybe the newer cars have more bracing in the hood frames, but ours are pretty flimsy. If you saw some of the AAR Cudas on Barrett-Jackson they had this problem with some of the fiberglass-hood cars.
