I'm considering 1 of these two brands for a replacement wiring harness for my '69 vert. I don't need the fiber optics. Allready have them. This is for a body off resto. I intended to repair what I have, but there are just too many splices to fix. Of the members out there who have had contact with these two company's, could I have some input. (pos. only please, I don't want to have anyone bad mouthed here.)
Thanks in advance,
Sly

DeWitts (the radiator company) now makes wiring harnesses? Well, if Tom DeWitt offers it, you can be it's the best there is out there and will be an exact fit. Reputation counts for a lot.
If this is some other DeWitts, then I have no idea.
They make the OEM / Rpro harness that are sold in Eckler, Paragon, CC and DOc Rebuild. I bought direct from them and was very pleased.
And you save a couple of bucks too ...
If your doing a complete resto-mod - definitely go - Painless : 18 circuit universal kit ---heavier guage wiring, plugin fuses, circuits for electric fuel pump, electric fans, high output alternator, power everything ... Plugs right into the steering column thats the painless part ... but the rest - somewhat painful - takes alot of time - to add/solder all your original light sockets and routing all the wire. The wiring are well marked but it took time. Used it on my '72 resto-mod; However, if your not doing a resto-mod and doing a stock restoration go with the Dewitts - it'll be alot easier, even if its more $.
DeWitts is a forum sponsor, and the have an outstanding reputation among this bunch. Need I say more?

Hey ..
I bought from Tom several times, the last being the direct-fit for my 72'.
If someone asks for a source of Corvette parts .. what is so wrong with giving a good recommendation to them.
If Tom sells wiring harnesses, there is a very good possibility he gets them from Lectric Limited, so inderectly, your supporting a non forum vendor just by purchasing the harness in the first place.
So you rather I recomned someone who may cost more $$$ just becuase that Vendor pays advertising dollars ???
Seems kinda stupid to me - don't ya think.
I mean - if I can save five or ten dollars along the way - I'm all for it. It adds up over time.
So I said my piece ...
In the future - I guess I will mention only the supporting Vendors regardless of quality or cost ...
Went with Painless and am very happy that I did. Not only do you have the color coded wires that match the schematic but also a desription and wire number are printed on each wire about every 12 inches or so. I also found that most of the wire colors in the new harness matched the color of the old wires. The instructions are easy to follow and they have some helpful step by step tips as well. Price was $499, contacted Painless to get the number then ordered it through Summit since Painless doesn't sell directly to individuals. For 500 bucks to have a completely new wiring harness and fuse block was well worth it to me.
Dewitts does not list wiring harnesses as one of their product lines. This is the first I heard of it. Regardless, Lectric Limited is the way to go. The Painless mod kit mentioned above would be good for a modified car with non-factory accessories.
