Default Cheap dust cover

Hi Folks,

I have seen a million different car covers out there for a C3 but I just want a simple thin dust cover to put over the car in the garage that fits well. Any suggestions or experiences?

Thanks

Costco $37 has the quality of the $100 covers.

On my 73' I have a Poly-Cotton car cover which is a cheaper cover but pretty soft like a bed sheet material. I must have this cover now over 20 years. I am pretty sure I purchased it from Eklers. On my 67' I spent just under $150 and purchased a flannel cover from Corvette America. This is the ultimate dust cover. I was impressed when I received it. It speaks of quality and is the softest cover you could buy to cover your Vette for inside the garage type use.

I don't remember the brand name but I purchased two covers one from Eclkers and the other from Mid America both were $89 each both ripped from putting on and taking off the car. And I never leave the car outside and I'm careful when taking off. In the past I used old cotton blankets the quilt-kind, which I will be going back to. No more $$ car covers for me.

These are not really a dust cover, but your post made me think about a good idea a friend gave me - moving blankets - like the ones used in moving vans to wrap things in. Probably not much use for plain storage, but great for paint protection when working on your baby.
Fairly cheap too. Some even have nice elastic anchor bands built into the corners. Here's an Ebay link. http://search.ebay.com/search/search...rclo=&saprchi=

I've bought several covers but now I just use a couple of king size bed sheets....when they get dirty/dusty I throw them in the washer. Most of the covers you either can't wash or they are too big to get in the washer anyway....then over time they get dirty/dusty and when you try to unfold them and put them on the car you end up with more dust on the car than when you started....no more covers for me.......sheets are cheap

Like CaptainMike says:
The trouble with cloth covers is that they are inherently
dusty ... and collect dust ... or let dust fall through.

They used to make cheap covers from Tyvek. It won't "breath",
but it will damn well keep all the dust off.
These were intended for indoor use only (not terribly rugged).

Thanks for the suggestions folks. It will never get wet and I want something I can just quickly crumple up and stuff away when not in use so the smaller and lighter the better. I will check out the above suggestions and agree with the sheet idea but would like something with elastic to secure it.

Thanks again!

Default Bubble device

This is probably going WAY overboard as my car isn't by any stretch of the imagination some perfect collectable show item however it does still appear decent but the paint feels soft for whatever reason. Has anyone bought or used one of those bubble devices where you drive onto the mat, zip the cover over then a fan inflates it with filtered air? The above moving blanket post reminded me of it as this solution provies the added advantage in that my 5 year nor his gang of well intentioned yet destructive little neighborhood demons wouldn't be able to scrape their bikes into it nor the wife open a door into the side of it.

Cheers

Want cheap. Do a search for Budge car cover.

I have had one on my 78 for a few years now just to have a cover.

I think it cost $20 back then. Would not use the cover outside though.

Just look for one that is Poly-Cotton. They are usually a cheaper cover but very soft and the next best thing to flannel and perfect for inside use. Most of the covers other then the Poly-Cotton are made out of a man made material and is rougher on the paint. Poly-Cotton or Flannel is the answer for inside use only. If you don't want to go that route go and buy some bedsheets and have someone sew them together to make a size that will fit your Vette. This would be very close to the Poly-Cotton cover I spoke about.

The cat will probably pee on it anyway, so might as well get a generic fit ftom Costco for $40. Works for me.

The Autozone cover mentioned above is a good, inexpensive lightweight cover. I bought one to put over my "new" 71 until my Noah cover arrived as it was backordered when I ordered it.
