Default Installed headers - that was the easy part

Dynomax ceramic. The collectors point slightly downward so the connection to the pipes will need cutting and welding. Then I removed my stock type 2.5 inch mufflers and expected my 2.5 inch Magnaflows to slip on the same way. Wrong - the muffler inlet is about the same dia. as the pipe. More fabrication needed. So I went to Mufflex in Trenton today, just to talk. They can do the necessary work so I will get a pair of cheap header mufflers and drive the car down there. Of course I will have to make a separate trip first with my truck to deliver the pipes.
The end result should be worth it.

Looks like my situation.

I drove mine about 20 miles to the muffler shop with open shorties. Fun ride to say the least. Lots of looks and it sounds like a racecar the whole way.

Mufflex does excellent work. I used some of that cheap flexible exhaust piping to drive to the muffler shop. It only costs a few bucks and will bend to whatever you need. I am probably going to have my redone also when I install the new 1 3/4 headers.

They do good work!

Sounds like you already bought exhaust pipe. They can bend you a custom system at a reasonable price, stainless or aluminized. I actually prefer the less expensive aluminized.

I think the idea of using the temporary bendable exhaust pipes that you can get at a local automotive store would make sense to make it drivable to the muffler shop.

Of course you could drive it there with open headers, but then why take the risk or the chance of getting caught. You cant predict when or where police will be, and if Murphys law has anything to do with this, then as soon as you pull in the street, guess who will be right behind you.

Seems like a couple of pieces of flex pipe, some U clamps. and labor will get you to the shop without a ticket.

I guess I'm a little embarrassed that I don't have the ***** to drive to the exhaust shop with open headers. It is 45 miles away - in my defense, and I'm a little old for that. Actually my header mufflers were deliverd today, $25 each from Jegs. I need to take care of a couple other things and then schedule the work. If it snows I'm definitely cancelling. Rain will bother me too.

We probably are way too uptight here, but I don't know if moving to Mississippi will cure it.
