when i drive the car and park it, I get a spot of manual tranny fluid on the floor. I went under and it is leaking on the drivers side from somewhere....havent got it all cleaned up yet but before I started I thought I would ask for any pointers on what could possibly be leaking?
it is a 4 speed, m-21 I think, 69 L46. thanks!
The shifter shaft seals are easy to change out for the forward gears on the side cover but the shaft seal for reverse is more difficult.
You could buy a Muncie gasket set that includes the shifter shaft seals plus the side cover gasket that you will also need. Ebay has them all the time and they are inexpensive. You might want to replace the tailshaft seal while you are at it.
I used to deal with a tranny guy in NY named Kenny Bainbridge. His buisness was called "Old Man Engineering". Kenny is no longer with us now but his son is still running the business. Kenny told me to use a thin rubber O-ring behind the shifter shaft seal to help them seal better.
EDIT : Lube the O-ring, Put the shaft in the side cover, put the O-ring on the shaft, then the seal, then tap the seal into the cover just far enough for the shafts to feel the drag from the extra seal. They will loosen with use.

That trick works where shaft has worn aluminum case cover hole..so I've heard...
The seals on the shift levers will leak after a number of years of use. Sometimes the shift levers will actually wear in the shifting cover and about the only to stop the leak for good is. to replace the complete cover. The o-ring trick between the levers and the case shifting cover may do the job.
