Got a nice offer to sell the Vette today...
A friend of a customer came into the shop saw the car and asked if was for sale. I wasn't there but my dad said it wasn't and he asked if It was what would it take to sell it? My dad told them atleast $XX,XXX and the guy said I'll give him that cash tomorrow if he changs his mine.
Now keep in mine the car needs a paint job and some odds and ins but EVERTHING is new minus the body. Engine (less 1,000mi, tranny 300miles suspen. less 1,000mi, etc).
Plus we've had this car for 26yrs and feels like a family member.
So what would it take over average for YOU to sell your car?

I bet that you'd miss it if you do sell it, are you getting out of the fun or will you be replacing it with ???? and can you replace it for what your selling it for, besides that,, its an awsome looking car and appears like you'd have no problem selling it later on or whenever. After 26 years,,,I'd keep it,,,Peace, Moosie

i know some people who don't get attatched to inanimate objects, they would probably jump on a deal like that. incidentally, the few i know like that happen to be fairly wealthy also. what that says about it may be of no concequence at all. but i do understand your dilema.
i'd suggest you just hang on to that beauty. maybe someone will come along and offer you enough to buy a new Z06, then you'll have some thinking to do.

if you've had it that long and have done all that work to it there's no way i'd let it go for that amount... you got someone that has cash and doesn't know what to do with it.... of course every man can be bought... but for that ride, not $30000

Have owned the 78 for 26 years, and I will not sell it..turned down two good offers....Had one tempting offer on the 69...but it's not for sale either...Have these vettes for pleasure and don't want to be out looking again...
$30,000 sounds good for your 68,but bet you can't replace it that easy....???

I'd sell my 70 if I got a good offer.......but I haven't had my vette for a long time.......I am a sentimental person, so the longer I own it the less chance there is I will sell it.....
Armed with the knowledge I have now after buying and owning my first vette, and have learnt a few things that I would do differently next time, I have considered selling mine, but only to buy another better one!
I haven't done much work on it yet.....sounds like you have done a huuuuuge amount of work, and put in alot of time and effort over the ... 26 years whoa thats a long time, and alot of hard sweat and tears!
when I start to put in more time into my vette (like the complete suspension, diff, engine etc) its going to become increasingly difficult for me to sell it......
the right offer/price would increase exponentially with time!!!

The only reason I sold my C5 is that I mentioned to a co-worker, a '65 Mustang owner, that I would consider selling it to buy a Denali pickup before they stopped building them with quadrasteer. He walked in two days later with a check, saying that he was never really into vettes until he saw how I babied mine.
The good news is the Denali came in very handy to tow home my C3.

I was selling my Harley when a guy that came to buy it saw my other "toys". The guy bought the bike and told his son about the Vette and Camaro I have. The son came over the next day on a Buell (Harley) and asked if he could see my cars. He was not interested in the Camaro as it looked real bad at the time but he was ALL over the Vette. Just walking around it and staring while we talked about it. He asks me "How much do I want for it"? I told him it was not for sale. He badgered me a bit more but I did not dare quote that guy a price. He just looked too serious and I wanted to keep this one. He then ran off on his Buell in a hurry. He was probably dead serious wanting it but I was just not interested in selling. I am glad I did not quote him a price because he might have said "OK" and I would have regretted it.
