Default Hoooker sidepipe header questions

Hey guys,

I have a 75 with a zz502 in it. Im test fitting my headers and im not able to get them on. I was using 3 long bolts and un doing one, adding washers, ect to bring the headers closer. I have it pretty close but its a bit to far to use the supplied bolts and it just wont go. I really dont feel like stripping the threads. Is it possible that the holes in the flange arent perfectly aligned? I have it really close but it just wont go. Any tips?

Next question - anybody use these with an ecu that needs an o2 sensor. I have a wideband sensor for my accel dfi (superram). I really cant think of a place where it wont be ugly. I know i need it where all the pipes come together. Any way to hide it or am i just going to have to live with seeing one?

one more - I have the keisler tko-600 kit and the tranny yoke is hitting the tunnel. Can i move the engine more to the drivers side by loosing the mounts and trying to move it with the cherry picker?

Thanks guys

Mike

I welded the O2 sensor bung in the #8 header tube in the middle of the part that is parallel to the ground by the starter. Be careful as the frame is close....

It would be better in the collector...

i think you would be better off trying to shift the body a LRH. your net going to geta lot of movment on the motormounts. don't force the headers. something ain't right. you would just be streesing them and they wioll crack.

Thats what i figures. I do have the poly mounts on there now, would that make that much of a difference? I dont think so. Any tips on moving the body???

I dont see how that could be accurate. Your o2s will probably jump all over the place as its reading the pulses and not the true o2 signal. An ideal set up would be one on each side but i really dont want to do that. Ive done several EFI engines with wideband but with this car the sidemount headers really represent a problem. I guess ill have to live with it though.

Isn't the zz502 a tall deck block? That will screw you up big time if you headers run as close to the frame as mine do...

My O2 sensor bung is welded on the inboard side of the passenger collector. It's tilted up at about 10 o'clock. Can't see it and it won't get hit by anything.

Are the headers hitting something? When I installed mine they hit the bottom of the fender right behind the front tires. I am not sure when the body changed. My hookers hit the steering box the fenders the frame and the A/C coil box.

I pretty sure the 502 is a regular deck height block.

Mike -

Just give our tech line a call on Monday morning. 865-609-8187 press option #2

The Keisler tranny kit wil fit just fine if the rest of the drivetrain is positioned properly.

Thanks

Robert

You're right. I looked it up. It's 9.8" My bad.

Regardless, you might have to trim some of the rocker to clear everything.
