Default factory side pipes

Hey hows it going! Noobie here And I need your help.
I have a 69 vert 350hp and I have all the parts ready
to switch to factory pipes.I did'nt have the money to boot
for crome covers,has any one had any luck painting fiberglass
covers to look right?Any tips about the change over would be great!

Get a quart of catalyst primer, such as Slicksand. Spray, sand and apply the color of your choice.

No different than any other paint, just mix it well and watch the runs.

Cool! I saw somewhere in the forum that I would have to trim
the fiberglass to make the pipes fit correctly,is that the case?

Could be...dry fitting the covers before painting should be the primary priority.

I've never heard of trimming them.
My buddy had the 'glass covers on his '73 with original
'69 sidepipes. The bottom edge of the covers did rest on the
pipes. Over the course of several years, the fiberglass was
worn/burned on that edge. You couldn't tell unless you got
down on your knees and lifted the cover outward.

Go for it .. test fit first before painting.

IMHO - they look good painted to match the color of the vette.
