Default Side mirror options needed

Since my 71 is more of a resto'mod, I would like some options for side view mirrors that will be painted to match the color of the car. I am wide open to suggestions on fit and appearance...suggestions?
P.S. Don't really care for the later model C3 "sport" mirrors that were generic on a lot of different vehicles

I saw those...but the bases looked a bit to gawdy for my tastes

I'm in a similar situation. I, however, DON'T want to paint mine. I want Chrome or polished Al. I came up with two options that fit with the vintage and style of the car. Haven't bought anything yet, but I'm planning to at some point.

Talbot and Rotunda both built bullet racing mirrors in the 60s and early 70s. You could find them on most any of the racing cars from Europe and even the Shelby cars.

I agree...good looking mirrors. But the lack of heigth on the riser is what concerns me. Being able to see of the rear wheel arch when installed. Where were you planning on placing them?

I looked for a while for different looking side mirrors in chrome and couldn't find anything I liked.
I ended up going with a pair of F1 style mirrors that I painted with the "mirror chrome" paint ...came out pretty good.

Well, I WAS planning on installing in the same place as the facotry mirrors, but I never considered that the rear fender arches might be too tall! I'll have to think about that one.

I was behind both a BMW Z3 and a Toyota Supra Turbo this morning and compared the angle & height of their mirrors to my OEM 1970 mirror... looks like they might work... I don't just want the mirrors, I want electronic adjustment as well.

I don't know how they would look on a vette but they are mounted on the front fenders on most sports cars. like porsche, ferrari, and ford GT40.
Ask someone to crop them onto your vette pic.

Interestng thread...

I get nothing but fender flare in my mirrors.

I'm thinking about mounting my mirror higher.

On airfoil shaped tubing from aircraft spruce and specialty?

or on a alloy tubing tripod like the the greenwood cars....

Well, it's fine for a serious racer, which is what 84rzv500r is building. I wouldn't do it to a cruiser, but it gets the job done w/o adding a bunch of weight or severely impacting drag.

Yeah Used on a serious racer would be fine. Maybe he didn't know I was looking for a "streetable" mirror option...

I wonder how the newer C6 mirrors would look? Looks like they have the "heigth" we'll need for the rear fenders

I am planning on using C5 mirrors when I change mine out. I think they are the same as the C6 mirrors as well.
