My 68 Corvette came with a factory stock hartop. The hardtop did not fit the car very well. It was an awful fit. My limited experience, based on this one data sample, is that a 1968 factory hardtop does not fit on a stock 1968 Convertible. Maybe others have more favoreable comments.
Not only did it fit slightly sideways, but it also bounced around and chipped the door glass, it also destroyed the left and right upper windshield mounting brackets. (To replace these brackets I had to remove the windshield--not an easy replacement.) As I said, maybe others have more favoreable comments.

I've got a 69 hardtop for my 68 car. It fits fine. In 68, they didn't have the stainless corner guards for the rear "points". At some point (after mine was built), there was also a third anchor point added at the center of the rear deck. If the car wasn't ordered with a hardtop, though, they didn't install the hardware in the deck. Mine could use it, as it's the only place where the fit is poor. Doesn't cause any issues, though.
